Fun Fact: Chicago Cubs had spring training on this island from 1921-1951.

Living in Los Angeles can be suffocating at times. With the busy grid-lock traffic, horrible air quality and long line at Porto’s (we just want our cheese rolls 😫), Catalina Island provides a temporary escape from the chaos just for a weekend.

While there are no cheese rolls in Catalina, this island is a perfect weekend getaway. Anyone who lives in Southern California must go at least once in their life. Riding golf carts to get around, parasailing, zip-lining, snorkeling, hiking, fishing and some much needed beach time is exactly what you need to de-stress from the exhausting city life.

Here are some of the things we got into:

Golf Carts – Catch the perfect view from all angles of the island!

Peter, the chauffeur of the day!

Parasail Catalina – Buy one get one free on your birthday! (Must show ID)

Beach time – Relax and soak in that California sun

There are a ton of shops and restaurants that you can check out. Grab some fish and chips, ice cream and lay around the beach and take a nap. By the end of the day we were relaxed and ready to head back home. After all, all good things must come to an end… Back to the madness, we go.

@HikeSnobs Tips:

  • Catalina Island often has Groupon or Living Social deals. Check them out before you book your trip out there.
