Located in San Pedro, CA is the lost city of Atlantis! The Sunken City of Atlantis! No… this one is less extravagant than the famous Atlantis but at least it “actually” exists and can be visited by anyone!

When you find a place to park in front of Point Fermin Park Bandshell, you’ll want to walk to the end of the road and look for the fence that looks out toward the ocean. Walk along it until you find a hole under the fence that has been dug by previous adventurers.

You will be crawling under this fence so make sure you’re not wearing anything you don’t want to get dirty. Also, it should be common sense by now that this place is off-limits. So enter at your own risk!

Once you get across the fence, it’s pretty easy to figure out where to go. Follow the trail east and keep an eye out on the right for the sunken city.

Several decades ago, the sunken city was caused by the collapse of houses that used to sit on this cliff. The ruins are now covered in graffiti and is now a great place to explore or just chill.

We spotted a group of kids playing paintball in the area too. When you visit the Sunken City, you’ll see it’s a great place for it.

Once you’re done exploring the sunken city, you can check out other sights that are close-by:

  • Point Fermin Lighthouse
  • Cabrillo Beach
  • Korean Bell of Friendship

@HikeSnobs Tips:

  • There has been word that the hole through the fence may be sealed up but it has not been confirmed. Feel free to confirm it for us! 😉
